ABOUT THE OWNER
Josh Thun was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and, among other things, has been involved in construction high-quality carpentry projects since he was young.
He studied Scenic Design & Construction at Cornish College of the Arts, where he became proficient in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and elements of Architectural Design. Josh earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University, in the field of Fine Art & Design.
Between 1996 and 2007, Josh traveled extensively in Europe and the United States, studying elements of architecture, carpentry, art, and design where ever he went. He was fortunate enough to be invited on many extended stays with local families, and ex-pats, where he learned much about the importance of representing culture and history in building and design motifs.
From 2005 to 2007, Josh was hired to be one of two Resident Carpenters on the largest private estate on the island of Nantucket, MA. There he was introduced to carpentry techniques, materials, and precision tools that were being used on homes built of the highest construction quality in the East Coast. While working on the estate, Josh even got to meet a former Vice President of the United States.
In 2007, Josh became a licensed contractor in the State of Washington, doing business as Thun Construction. Since then, he has worked on projects all over Pierce & King Counties, and has been contracted as far away as Port Angeles, Ocean Shores, White Pass, and Bend, OR.
Josh is happily married to his lovely and talented wife, artist, muralist, and Pierce County Arts Commissioner, Kate Cendejas Thun. Together, they live in a log cabin with their three boys in Graham, WA.
